Designed for the downloading of software to small or large quantities of SCSI disk drives, Greystone Peripherals Inc. now offers the SCSI DataFast as an affordable solution for multiple SCSI disk drive duplication. As the SCSI interface is widely used among both IBM-compatible and Apple Macintosh computers, this unit is ideal for software program loading by all SCSI users.

The SCSI DataFast is designed for duplication of licensed software only. For small volume applications, the SCSI DataFast can operate as a stand-alone unit which has five drive ports. Each port supports one drive and data transfers are copied from a single SCSI master disk drive to four target SCSI drives simultaneously at speeds determined by the type of SCSI device. During the copying process, the hardware performs bit-by-bit data verification.

The SCSI DataFast supports the ANSI X3T9 SCSI-2 standard, which provides sustained SCSI data transfer rates of up to 10 megabytes per second synchronous (fast SCSI), 5 megabytes per second synchronous (normal SCSI). The unit also supports fast and wide 16-bit SCSI operation. For SCSI transceivers, a five-port single-ended configuration is standard; individual ports may be changed to differential configuration via an optional add-on module.

Firmware that configures the DataFast's operating parameters can be easily updated without opening the unit's enclosure. Updates can be downloaded via a standard PC parallel port, or the Host Controller.

For higher volume applications, up to 28 DataFasts can be multiplexed together by one PC running under a DataFast Host Controller. In this configuration, all five ports can be copied to in parallel; up to 140 SCSI disk drives can be copied to simultaneously.

Up to now the high cost of duplication systems has been prohibitive for many OEMs, systems integrators and manufacturers. The DataFast line from Greystone Peripherals is the first cost-effective software duplicating solution that provides the flexibility and power to meet your needs and budget.
