A Full-Featured Digital Camera

With the PowerShot 600, Canon unites the best of traditional photographic technology and advanced digital techniques in a full-featured camera which is simple enough to operate that it can be used by anyone. Instead of using 35 mm film, the PowerShot 600 stores its high-resolution images in digital form, either in its internal memory or on removable industry-standard PCMCIA cards. Because PowerShot 600 images do not require processing, they can be transferred from the PowerShot 600 to the PC seconds after they have been taken and used instantly in your wordprocessing, desktop publishing, or database packages.

The PowerShot 600 includes many features found in Canon's traditional 35 mm film-based cameras, including automatic-exposure, auto-focus, and built-in flash. In addition, the PowerShot 600 adds valuable information to images, including: date, time, ID number, shooting parameters, and camera owner's name, making it easy to retrieve and manage large numbers of images. This digital camera is highly portable, weighing just 400 grams (excluding battery or PCMCIA card).

With PowerShot 600's special B&W text mode, you can obtain high-resolution images of text which are ideal for photographing display panels, business cards and other text-oriented subjects. PowerShot 600's standard lens produces clear and sharp images even along the periphery, making it well-suited for a variety of applications. The built-in macro feature allows you to take creditcard-size close-ups as near as 10 cm. Thanks to PowerShot 600's miniature built-in microphone, you can even add voice annotation to images which have been shot.

Versatile Storage Options

The PowerShot 600 offers a variety of options for storing your digital images, depending on your needs. These include PowerShot 600's internal memory and optional PCMCIA cards. PowerShot 600's optional hard-disk-based PCMCIA card can hold up to 170 MB of PowerShot 600 images.

For extra versatility, the PowerShot 600 offers three shooting modes: Fine, Normal, and Economy, which provide users control over the balance between resolution and storage requirements. In Economy mode (640 x 480 pixels), approximately 3,200 images can be stored on a single 170 MB PCMCIA hard disk card.
