ARCserve/Open should be purchased based on the number of machines, including
server(s), workstationts) or stand-alone(s), you wish to support The Base
packages include licenses for the backup server and either 4 or 16 clients,
depending on the platform(s) you select. If you require support for additional
machines, you must purchase the Additional Client Support packages available
for your platform(s) (4,16, or unlimited). Multiple Additional Client Support
packages may be purchased. For example, to add 32 additional clients, you
should purchase two 16 client add-on packages. ARCserve/Open also includes
the Client Agent for the same operating system as the Base package (e.g.
Client Agent for HP is included in the ARCserve/Open for HP Base package).
*ARCserve/Open 2.2x ships with two forms of media; CD-ROM and tape or
diskette (Sun Solaris x86 only). The CD includes the software; ARCserve/Open
and, for a limited time only, the Client Agents for Microsoft Windows 3.1,
95 & NT. The tape/diskette includes the license for one backup server
and 16 clients-tape/4 clients-diskette.
**ARCserve/Open for the SCO platform is now available only through authorized
SCO resellers. Upgrades from ARCserve/Open 1.x and 2.0 to all subsequent
versions are now available only through authorized SCO resellers.

ARCserve/Open Client Agents should be purchased if additional support
is needed for clients which run on a different operating system than the
host's which is running ARCserve/Open. (e.g. if you purchase ARCserve/Open
for HP and also need support for some clients running IBM/AIX, you will
need to purchase the Client Agent for IBM/AIX. Client Agents can be loaded
on multiple systems. Remember, the user license is included in ARCserve/Open.
You only need to purchase multiple copies of each agent if you want additional
media and documentation.

The Backup Agent for DataTools/Sybase supports local or remote backup
(via a Unix Client Agent) to an ARCserve/Open Server. The Database Agent
for Oracle supports local backup. Customers who wish to use the Database
Agent for Oracle to perform remote backup are encouraged to purchase Consulting
Services provided by our Technical Services Group to configure the solution.
The Application Agents are licensed per server (e.g. you need to purchase
an Application Agent for each database server you wish to backup).
